    What is trance?

Trance is a completely natural state which occurs regularly throughout the day. The majority of the sessions have a large section dedicated to engaging in a positive focused discussion, with a third of the session consisting of “hypnosis” which can often be likened to “falling asleep in front of the television.”

  2. 2
    Is it like stage hypnosis?

No, stage hypnosis works in an entirely different way to Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.  As a therapy practitioner then our prime objective is for the good of the client and we are all about working with our clients to help them achieve their goals and aims.

  3. 3
How safe is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is exceptionally safe. To become fully qualified then I had to achieve a high standard of academic understanding of the subject with more than 50,000 words provided as a written submission, assessments, exams and evidenced work with a number of people to help them with issues ranging from stress to stopping smoking. I am fully qualified, insured, regularly attend supervision and Professional Development Courses to ensure I am up to speed on all the latest developments and so that I comply with the strict guidelines set down by the professional bodies to which I belong.

  4. 4
How many sessions does a person tend to have and how do they work?

For the majority of sessions, with the exception of phobias and stop smoking, then we may work together for between eight to twelve sessions – sometimes less and sometimes more. Each session lasts for around an hour (although I do not clock watch and am happy to overrun). The therapist is a guide to help someone build up the steps that they need to take to help them move forward with their lives.

  5. 5
Do you have a DBS check in place

I have a regular policy of updating my DBS certificate once a year. My last update was in October 2018 and it clearly shows no records of any convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings.

  6. 6
Can I bring a friend, partner or family member with me?

If you wish to bring someone with you then please do so. Obviously it is important that they understand (and respect) the nature of confidentiality within a session.

We also ask that they do not take an active part in it as this would potentially affect treatment.

  7. 7
Can I cancel or alter appointments?

You can cancel appointments and alter when there is the availability to do so. Please be aware that appointments altered or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will incur a £27.50 charge to cover costs associated with running the practice rooms.

  8. 8
What qualifications do you hold and how thorough was your training?

I hold the Hypnotherapy Practitioner’s Diploma (HPD) and the Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (DHP) following my training with the Clifton Practice’s Solution Focused Hypnotherapy course at the Award winning Observatory Practice in Plymouth. My final submission for coursework consisted of 50,000+ words and students also had to pass continuous assessments, exams and provide evidence of working with people who required help for specific issues.

  9. 9
What professional bodies do you belong to?

I am registered with the National Board of Modern Psychotherapy (NBMP). I confirm to their strict codes of ethical practice and undergo regular supervision sessions together with attending further seminars to ensure my skills, knowledge and practice is fully up to date and in accordance with professional regulations.
